CSPG’s Poster of the Week includes an image originally designed by Northland Poster Collective (1979-2009) in winter 1996. At the time, the collective was struggling to pay for heat after their landlord did not pay the bills. When the Collective folded in 2009, a victim of the economic collapse, their extraordinary poster archive was donated to CSPG.
Ricardo Levins Morales, founding member of the Collective, has continued the Collective’s important work through his art studio, and created a reissue of this poster in 2020. It features hopeful lyrics from Charlie Murphy’s 1984 song “Light is Returning.”
For the light to return we must organize and work for it—now more than ever!
May the New Year bring us closer to Peace with Justice.
